Katsina Revokes Private School Licenses

The Katsina State Government has withdrawn the operating licenses of all private and community schools, effective August 13, 2025, as part of efforts to improve education quality. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, signed by Commissioner Hajiya Zainab Musa-Musawa, and shared by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Malam Sani Danjuma.

The government said the move aims to ensure schools meet approved standards and provide quality education. A review of fees for license application, registration, and annual renewal has also been introduced. Owners of affected schools are required to obtain fresh licenses by submitting proof of payment to the ministry by September 30, 2025. They have been warned not to increase tuition or other charges without official approval.

The ministry promised to release further guidelines, including school categorisation and a revised fee structure, to strengthen regulation and standardisation in the state’s education sector.
