The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has commended Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), Kano, for its strong commitment to high-quality nursing education.
The commendation was made during an official visit by NMCN to the university, which took place this week as part of KHAIRUN’s ongoing efforts to establish a solid foundation for its Bachelor of Nursing Science programme.
The visit was also aimed at assessing the institution’s compliance with regulatory requirements.
The NMCN Registrar, Ndagi Alhasan, led the council’s delegation and described the university’s engagement with the council as timely and well-coordinated. He expressed satisfaction with the facilities, resources, and academic structure in place to support nursing education at the university.
According to a statement released Wednesday by the Acting Director of Corporate Affairs and Marketing, Malam Bilal Dahiru Tijjani, the council acknowledged the university’s early and continuous collaboration with regulatory authorities as a mark of readiness and seriousness.
After reviewing KHAIRUN’s infrastructure and academic setup, the NMCN offered professional recommendations to enhance the programme and ensure it meets national benchmarks.
Responding to the feedback, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, assured the council that the suggestions would be swiftly implemented, noting that the visit aligned with the university’s broader strategy to deliver top-tier nursing education and produce well-equipped graduates.
KHAIRUN’s proactive partnership with NMCN is seen as a major step forward in its goal to become a centre of excellence for nursing education in Nigeria and a contributor to the nation’s growing demand for qualified healthcare professionals.
