The Kogi Polytechnic has discovered cases of certificate racketeering and document falsification involving four students and five staff members.
While speaking at a press conference on Friday, October 31, 2025, Prof. Salisu Ogbo, the rector of the institution, highlighted that the staff members have been suspended and the students arrested for the offence.
The rector revealed that the crime was discovered after the intelligence reports and routine verification exercises conducted by the Admission, ICT, and Security Units of the institution.
Ogbo elaborated, “We have discovered 30 forged original certificates reportedly sold out to prospective buyers. The suspects forged National Diploma (ND) results in the name of Kogi State Polytechnic. They had the temerity to apply for Higher National Diploma (HND) admission in the same institution using the forged ND results.”
He reassured the public that the polytechnic will continue to expose wrongdoing that can tarnish its image.
