Prof. Kehinde Eniola, Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University, Kabba, states that the institution has overcome initial doubts and is now attracting a large number of students. In an interview, he revealed that the university, now nearing its third academic session, has 2,110 students and has secured approval to admit another 1,840 for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Prof. Eniola recalled that some critics once dismissed the school as a “political” or “Pajawiri” (emergency) university when it was established in June 2023. However, he said its rapid progress, strong community support, and accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) have proven otherwise.
Tracing its development, he praised the Kogi State House of Assembly for fast-tracking the establishment law and commended former Governor Yahaya Bello for prioritising education. He also reiterated his commitment to making the university “beat the best and be the best,” stressing that its growing acceptance shows the school is firmly on track.
