The Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS) in Ilorin has partnered with the Bazarab Educational Foundation to host a programme aimed at protecting children from social vices and promoting girl-child education.
The event, titled “Safeguarding the Child Against Social Vices,” was organised through the college’s Directorate of Centre for Degree and Professional Programmes (CDPP). It brought together staff, female students, and community stakeholders to discuss strategies for protecting vulnerable children and improving access to education for underprivileged girls.
Dr Zainab Balogun, CEO of the Bazarab Educational Foundation, highlighted the organisation’s initiatives, including scholarships, mentorship programmes, and skills workshops that have benefited thousands of young women across Nigeria. She called for collective action against harmful practices such as child marriage and female genital mutilation, describing them as barriers to education and women’s empowerment.
Officials at CAILS welcomed the partnership, noting that it aligns with the college’s mission to promote academic excellence and social responsibility within the community. The initiative is part of broader efforts to create safe spaces for children and expand inclusive educational opportunities across the state.
