The Kwara State Government has announced the construction of 15 new schools across the state, comprising 11 primary schools and 4 secondary schools, to enhance access to education in underserved and nomadic communities.
This initiative is part of the broader efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration to ensure that quality education reaches even the most remote parts of the state.
Prof. Shehu Adaramaja, Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), announced during a briefing on the board’s activities for the period between January and April.
He explained that the new school projects aim to bridge the educational gaps in these underserved areas.
Adaramaja also shared that 6,993 teachers and school administrators have undergone training through the New Calhoun Creek programme to improve the state’s education quality.
Furthermore, 1,033 newly hired teachers have received their salaries after going through a thorough verification process.
In addition to the new schools, Adaramaja revealed that the Kwara State Government is collaborating with the Uganda Basic Education Foundation.
This partnership has led to the construction of 37 new classroom blocks and VIP toilets across 33 schools.
As part of its commitment to enhancing digital education, the government is also setting up an E-Learning Centre in Adida.
Athletic competitions for physical education have been organised to support nomadic learners, promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for all students.
