London Varsity Academics Receive €8 Million Funding

The Four academics at Queen Mary University of London awarded €2 million each for their research

Four academics at Queen Mary University of London have been awarded €2 million each for their research.

The funding was awarded in recognition of their track record of delivering research excellence to organise a new research group, build or strengthen pioneering research, and support their exceptional talent.

The recipients are Dr. Stefaan Verbruggen, Lecturer in Medical Technology, School of Engineering and Materials Sciences; Prof. Claudia Langenberg, Director of the Precision Healthcare University Research Institute (PHURI) and Professor of computational medicine, Berlin Institute of Health; Dr. Xuekun Lu, Senior Lecturer in Green Energy, School of Engineering and Materials Sciences; and Dr. Alexandre De Mendoza Soler, Reader in Evolutionary Epigenomics, School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences.

Reacting to the achievement, Prof. Andrew Livingston, Vice Principal for Research and Professor of Chemical Engineering at the university, expressed, “In a highly competitive funding round, their successes reflect the important and impactful research we have at Queen Mary, and our commitment to supporting research with world-reaching benefits.”
