MAPOLY Celebrates Rector, Arc. Dr. Jolaoso’s One Year in Office in Style
Staff of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, have held a surprise celebration to mark the first year in office of the Rector, Arc Dr Koye Jolaoso.
The event, held on Friday, brought together the institution’s principal officers, including the deputy rector, bursar, librarian, and heads of schools, departments, and units.
Dr Jolaoso, who assumed office on 6 December 2024 as the 10th substantive rector, became emotional as colleagues praised what they described as a year of stability, openness and renewed direction.
“I was not planning to come to the office today. I do not think I truly deserve all of this. It is God’s doing,” he told staff, thanking them for their support and unity.
Earlier in the day, the Polytechnic’s Cadet Corps mounted a guard of honour in recognition of what they described as a student-friendly administration.
Students also paid tribute to the rector. A Mass Communication student, Fawaz Adebisi, dedicated the award he won at the 2025 Media Conference, organised by the Centre for Journalism, Innovation and Development in Abuja, to Dr Jolaoso. Adebisi finished as first runner-up, becoming the only polytechnic student to reach the top three nationwide.
Both the current and immediate past students’ union leaderships also presented awards, praising the rector’s leadership and commitment during his first year in office.
