The management of Modibbo Adama University, Yola, has directed all graduates and prospective corps members to obtain clearance from the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) before participating in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilisation exercise.
The directive, contained in a circular from the Students Affairs Division dated October 7 2025, follows a new Federal Government policy taking effect from NYSC Batch ‘C’ 2025.
According to the university, the policy is aimed at promoting academic transparency, digital record-keeping, and verification of graduates’ credentials to prevent fraudulent mobilisation cases.
Graduates are required to upload soft copies of their final-year projects to the NERD portal and keep hard copies endorsed by their Heads of Department for verification. Only those who complete the clearance will be eligible for NYSC mobilisation.
The university advised all prospective corps members to begin the process immediately to avoid exclusion from the next batch.
The circular, signed by A. A. Musa on behalf of the Registrar, assured that the institution would provide updates as more operational details are released. It also added that the NERD policy aligns with national efforts to digitise education data and strengthen academic integrity.
