Modibbo Adama University, Yola (MAU), has agreed to work together with the University of Ngaoundere in Cameroon. Both schools will now partner to share knowledge, train their staff, and conduct research together.
This agreement was made official when the head of the Cameroonian university, Professor Mamoudou Abdoulmoumini, and his team visited MAU Yola. They were warmly welcomed by Professor Ibrahim Umar, the Vice Chancellor of MAU, and other top officials from the school.
As part of the visit, both teams went to greet the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Dr Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, in his palace. The Lamido prayed for the success of the partnership and hoped it would bring good results. The guests also visited the Fombina Palace Museum to learn about the rich culture and history of the Adamawa people.
The visitors were shown many important places on MAU’s campus. These included the publishing and examination centres, the labs for science and equipment training, the solar energy project, the university library, the DNA lab, and the departments of Home Economics and Industrial Design.
The visitors from Cameroon were pleased with what they saw and said the school has everything needed for world-class learning and research. The main highlight of the visit was the signing of the agreement by both universities, which promised to collaborate on training, teaching, and research. To round off the visit, they all took a group photo. The MAU Vice-Chancellor also took them to see the MAU Teaching Hospital, demonstrating the school’s commitment to medical and nursing education.
This partnership will enable students and teachers from both schools to learn from each other, collaborate on joint projects, and foster stronger ties between Nigeria and Cameroon in the field of education.
