NANS Condemns English Language Examination Conduct, Calls on Federal Government and WAEC for Retake

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has requested that the Federal Government instruct the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to conduct a re-examination of its 2025 English Language Examination.

“We call upon the Honourable Minister of Education and the Federal Government of Nigeria to launch an immediate investigation into the conduct of the examination and to mandate a complete retake of the English Language paper.

NANS made this call following the body’s conduct of the examination, which is said to have been conducted below the examination body’s standards and procedures, as the questions were leaked, and some students sat for the exam at night.

In a statement by Comrade Oladimeji Uthman, the Executive Director of Administration and Planning of NANS, he expressed, “NANS condemns in the strongest terms the uncoordinated and insecure conditions under which such a pivotal examination was conducted.”

The exam retake request by NANS is coming after the Head of WAEC, Dr Amos Dangut, apologised on June 10, 2025, for the poor exam conduct, which he attributed to the exam body’s internal printing press issues.
