NCDMB Trains 305 Youths in Oil Skills

NCDMB’s Executive Secretary, Felix Omatsola Ogbe

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has commenced training 305 young Nigerians at the Marine and Offshore Technology Centre of Rivers State University.

During an inspection visit on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, NCDMB’s Executive Secretary, Felix Omatsola Ogbe, praised the training and urged participants to take the opportunity seriously. The four-month training covers vital skills in the oil and gas industry, including automation, mechanical design, welding, data analysis, and ship construction.

Ogbe said the programme aims to fill manpower gaps in Nigeria’s oil industry and help young people find jobs. Participants were selected from the Nigerian Oil and Gas Joint Qualification System (NOGICJQS). He also visited the new Advanced Marine Engineering Centre, built by an oil firm, and promised to complete its setup and finish the delayed staff quarters. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, said the school is a centre of excellence in marine engineering, backed by top industry experts.
