The National Examinations Council (NECO) has expanded its operations to Burkina Faso following an accreditation visit to confirm if the schools can sit for the School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Azeez Sani, NECO’s spokesperson, said the accreditation followed the Council’s inspection of schools’ continuous assessment (CA), computer laboratories, examination halls, libraries, sports facilities, and the adequacy of teachers and students.
He disclosed, “The accreditation of the schools in Burkina Faso is a testament to NECO’s commitment to providing quality education and assessment beyond the shores of Nigeria.”
Ambassador M.D Galadima, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, applauded NECO for the development.
The Ambassador noted that parents in Burkina Faso had to travel to Oyo State, Nigeria, to register and sit for the examinations, exposing them to financial and transportation risks.
He further advised Nigerian parents in Burkina Faso to register their children for SSCE and BECE.
