The Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) says over 11,000 project theses have been uploaded within the first month of its national education record digitisation initiative.
The programme, launched by Education Minister Dr Tunji Alausa, has so far enrolled over 40,000 students and onboarded 135 tertiary institutions for academic credential verification.
Ekiti State University leads submissions with 990 entries, followed by Bayero University Kano (611) and Auchi Polytechnic (532). NERD data also shows that science and innovation-related research dominate uploads, cutting across disciplines.
NERD spokesperson Haula Galadima stated that the policy aims to enhance research supervision and transparency, as lecturers’ names now appear alongside student projects, making them accessible to global audiences.
She added that NERD’s analytics system also enables precise tracking of academic workloads for earned allowance computations.
Galadima described the initiative as a “revolutionary step” in curbing qualification fraud and improving research accessibility nationwide. She confirmed that while undergraduates already undergoing NYSC clearance before the October 6 enforcement are exempt, uploads continue hourly across institutions.
