NEU Gombe Launches World’s First Entrepreneurship Dictionary

Dignitaries at the International Conference on Business, Finance and Entrepreneurship (IBUFINE 2025), hosted by North-Eastern University

North-Eastern University (NEU), Gombe, has launched the world’s first entrepreneurship dictionary as part of its efforts to strengthen entrepreneurial education in Nigeria. The launch took place during NEU’s inaugural International Conference on Business, Finance, and Entrepreneurship (IBUFINE 2025).

The event also saw the university receive national recognition, including the Entrepreneurship Merit Award, the title of Most Outstanding Private University in Entrepreneurial Education (North-East Nigeria), and a certificate of membership as a Certified Entrepreneurial University.

Professor Babangida Musa of Gombe State University, delivering the keynote, urged Nigerian universities to integrate Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) skills—including digital literacy, critical thinking, and complex problem-solving—into curricula. He emphasised that entrepreneurship should be embedded across all academic programmes to prepare students for a rapidly changing global economy.

Professor Nuruddeen Oyekola, Registrar of the Certified Institute of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Education (CIEEE), praised NEU for creating a practical learning environment that equips students to turn ideas into businesses.

NEU Pro-Chancellor, Dr Adamu Jauro, said the conference reflects the university’s mission to produce graduates capable of creating jobs rather than only seeking employment. Students described the event as inspiring, with many pledging to champion women’s involvement in entrepreneurship and to develop sustainable ventures.
