Accreditation, Boosts Enrolment
The Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology (NKFI), Lokoja, has obtained full accreditation for all its programmes from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
Rector of the institute, Charles Williams, confirmed the development, noting that accredited courses include Automotive Mechatronics, Welding and Fabrication, Electrical/Electronic Technology, and Computer Software Engineering.
He disclosed that the institute has recorded a 500 per cent rise in student enrolment, from 40 students in 2022 to over 900 in 2025. The NKFI also introduced new programmes in Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Robotics, alongside distance learning for remote studies.
Williams highlighted other milestones, including over 200 per cent growth in internally generated revenue, improved infrastructure, and more than 10 new institutional partnerships.
He added that more than 250 youths have been trained under the Kogi Youth Empowerment Programme, with beneficiaries receiving free starter packs.
The rector commended the Korean government for continuous support and praised Governor Ahmed Ododo for sustaining the institute’s vision of empowering youth through technology-driven vocational education.
