Nigerian Army Renovates Akwa Ibom Primary School

St. Dominic’s Primary School, Mbak Etoi, Uyo


St. Dominic’s Primary School, Mbak Etoi, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has received a newly renovated block comprising six classrooms, two administrative offices, a water reticulation system, and six flush toilets, facilitated by the Nigerian Army under its Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiative.


The project, sponsored by the Chief of Army Staff and coordinated by Major General AE Edet, aims to support educational infrastructure in the state. The handover ceremony was attended by Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Education, Bong Essien Umoh, Major General E.E. Emekah (GOC, 6 Division, Port Harcourt), Brig.-Gen. N.E.

Okoloagu (Commander, 2 Brigade, Uyo), representatives of the Chief of Army Staff, state and local government officials, and traditional and religious leaders.


The renovation is part of ongoing efforts to improve learning environments in the state, which currently oversees 1,171 public primary schools. The upgraded facility features furnished classrooms, administrative offices, modern sanitation facilities, and a water system designed to enhance school operations and improve accessibility for pupils.


The Nigerian Army stated that the project aligns with its broader mandate to support human security and community development throughout Nigeria.
