The Nigerian Young Academy (NYA) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting research ethics, protecting intellectual property, and driving innovation as part of its efforts to support Nigeria’s development.
This was contained in a communiqué issued after its 15th International Conference, held from August 25 to 28 at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. The four-day event, themed “Navigating Research Ethics and Intellectual Property,” brought together scholars, policymakers, and young researchers to discuss challenges and opportunities in Nigeria’s research space.
In the communiqué signed by Dr. Nuruddeen Nasiru Garba, NYA pledged to step up mentorship, science advocacy, and policy engagement while providing a strong platform for collaboration across disciplines. The academy also urged the government and stakeholders to give more support to research and innovation for sustainable growth.
The conference featured keynote and plenary lectures, training on intellectual property rights, and paper presentations. It was chaired by Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo, President of the Nigerian Academy of Sciences.
