A nine-year-old boy, Muhammadu Buhari, has been awarded a full scholarship following his performance at the launch of “According to the President,” a book written by former presidential spokesperson Garba Shehu.
The child, who shares the same name as Nigeria’s former president, delivered a poetic recital at the Abuja event, drawing applause from a high-profile audience that included former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, former Vice Presidents Yemi Osinbajo and Atiku Abubakar, SGF George Akume, and the Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero.
Shehu announced that the scholarship was provided by the Chairman of Trobell Nigeria, Lawal Garba. The offer covers the remainder of the boy’s primary education and six years of secondary school, with the possibility of university sponsorship upon completion of WAEC.
The boy’s father, Abdullahi Haruna, is a writer and is credited with nurturing the child’s intellectual interests. Describing the gesture as a recognition of talent and promise, Shehu called on other Nigerians to invest in children’s education and potential. The child hails from Kogi State.
