Prof. Stella Chiemeke, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Delta, has called for a better relationship between academia, industry, and government.
Chiemeke noted that the partnership would help tackle societal and national challenges. In her remarks, she said, “Until we bring together what is often called the triple helix, government, academia, and industry, to work in partnership, we will not be able to solve societal and national problems effectively.” While she criticised industries for shunning collaboration with universities, she commended the success of the Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), which places students in industries for training.
