The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has trained over 350,000 people across northern Nigeria in digital skills within the last two years. This was revealed by NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, during a two-day interactive session in Kaduna. The session was organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation to improve government-citizen engagement.
As part of its efforts, NITDA also set up 101 e-learning centres, 13 IT community centres, and one cybersecurity research centre in the northern region. A statement by the agency’s spokesperson, Hajiya Hadiza Umar, said these initiatives are part of the federal government’s focus on digital literacy, innovation, and infrastructure development. She added that the current administration sees technology as a key tool for achieving inclusive national development. The training aims to empower young people, improve job creation, and bridge the digital divide in underserved communities.
