The National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC) has pledged to collaborate closely with the FCT Administration to enhance senior secondary education in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Abuja. This was announced by Dr Iyela Ajayi, Executive Secretary of NSSEC, during a visit to the Mandate Secretary of the FCT Education Secretariat, Dr Danlami Hayyo.

Ajayi stated that the partnership will focus on providing high-quality and accessible education for students. He listed achievements like setting education standards, creating a strategic plan, and upgrading 50 schools nationwide — including those in the FCT. He also initiated a new school farming programme and suggested collaborating on teacher training, improving science and technology labs, and providing support for vocational education.

Dr Hayyo, who is in charge of the government’s education policy in the FCT, welcomed the idea, saying the FCT is ready to partner with NSSEC to improve policies, share data, and reduce the number of students dropping out.
