NWDC Opens 2025/2026 Foreign Scholarship Programme for North-West Youth to Access World-Class Education

The North-West Development Commission (NWDC) has officially opened applications for its highly competitive 2025/2026 foreign scholarship programme. The initiative aims to empower exceptional individuals from the North-West region of Nigeria by offering fully funded opportunities for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies at prestigious institutions worldwide.

The NWDC, established under the NWDC Act of 2024 and signed into law by the current administration, is committed to accelerating transformation across the region through investments in human capital. This latest scholarship scheme is a strategic step in building the next generation of scientists, educators, innovators, and thought leaders.

The scholarship covers a range of eligible fields, including Engineering, Medical Sciences, Agriculture, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Education. The Commission highlights that the application process is entirely free, ensuring that all qualified candidates have equal access to the opportunity.

Applicants are expected to meet the following criteria:

Undergraduate candidates must have at least three distinctions in core science subjects and five credits in no more than two sittings. Applicants must be 22 years old or younger.

Master’s degree aspirants should possess a minimum CGPA of 3.8 and be 35 years old or below.

Phd candidates must have a Master’s cumulative GPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale and be under 40 years of age.

To apply, candidates must submit key documents, including a Curriculum Vitae (CV), academic certificates, NYSC discharge or exemption letter, official transcripts, a motivational letter, and a valid international passport. The required documents may vary depending on the level of study.
