Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has urged universities to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) to drive the nation’s future.
Nafiu said this while delivering a lecture at the 23rd convocation ceremony of Igbinedion University. He noted that AI is reshaping global education and Nigeria must let it guide its transformation, adding that the country’s youthful population is an excellent advantage in adopting AI literacy and academic reform.
The DG highlighted that AI has significant potential for improving access to quality instruction, accelerating research output, enabling personalised learning systems, and streamlining campus administration.
He added that Nigeria must focus on specific AI solutions that address issues in diagnostic systems for local diseases, predictive models for agriculture, and educational platforms for multilingual contexts with limited infrastructure.
