OPay and the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, have signed a historic ₦1.2 billion scholarship agreement to support students for the next 10 years. The deal was officially sealed on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Under the partnership, 20 students will each receive ₦300,000 every year. The Rector, Dr Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, described the agreement as a significant step toward helping students succeed. She also noted that it aligns perfectly with the school’s focus on practical progress and partnerships that benefit students.
OPay’s Head of Partnerships, Mr. Ikponmwosa Odiase, explained that the scholarship is part of the company’s plan to support education and digital skills development in Nigeria. He promised that the process for selecting students would be open and well-organised. The ceremony ended with the signing of the agreement. The school thanked all who made it happen and promised to keep working with tech leaders to improve student lives and learning.
