Dr (Mrs) Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede
The Orsu-ihiteukwa Development Union (OIDU) visited Brigadier Dr. (Mrs.) Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, on November 3, 2025, to celebrate her appointment as the institution’s 9th substantive Rector and the first woman from Orsu to hold the position.
Led by OIDU President Barr. Ibekaeme, the delegation described Dr Igbokwe as a “rare gem” whose achievements have elevated Orsu’s profile nationally. Members praised her courage, intellect, and visionary leadership, highlighting the support of the Orsu Clan Stakeholders and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in her appointment.
Mrs Patience Duru, President of the union’s Women’s Wing, commended the Rector as an inspiration to women and invited her to the union’s Annual Women’s Meeting later this month. Engr. Friday Ibekaeme, Chairman of Orsu Local Government Area, lauded her representation of Orsu heritage and exemplary service.
Igbokwe thanked the visitors, attributing her success to God and her husband, whom she called her “pillar of strength.”
She reassured her commitment to lead with humility, integrity and excellence, emphasising community upliftment as a guiding principle of her administration.
