Osinbajo Urges People-Centric Future of Work at CIPM Conference

The 57th International Conference and Exhibition of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) concluded in Abuja, with former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo urging HR professionals to adopt a humane and ethical approach to the future of work.
Osinbajo commended CIPM for its leadership in people management, warning that artificial intelligence and rapid digital change have already reshaped workplaces. “AI has transformed everything about the world. The future of work is already here — shaped by digital transformation and our youthful population,” he said.
He urged HR professionals to create ethical frameworks for responsible technology use, prioritise employee wellbeing, and ensure data serves as a tool for empowerment rather than control. “The new world of work will be determined by people, not technology,” he added.
CIPM President Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir charged delegates to apply lessons from the conference to drive organisational change. With 5,019 participants, the event became Africa’s largest HR gathering, capped by a Gala Night where 73 members received Fellowship awards for exceptional contributions to the profession.
