Pan-Atlantic University is scaling its sustainability agenda through a student-led initiative that demonstrates how small behavioural shifts can generate institutional impact.
The Living Green Club has expanded its routine weekend cleanup into a structured, week-long Waste Bin Awareness Campaign themed “Sort it right, say yes to waste segregation!”
Club President Ibukunoluwa Afolabi said the campaign aligns with the university’s sustainability priorities, noting that proper waste sorting is fundamental to building long-term environmental discipline across the community.
The campaign deployed multiple engagement channels, including educational content on email and social media, colour-coded waste-sorting guides, and pop-up awareness stations positioned in high-traffic areas.
A campuswide Green Sweep event drove active participation from students and staff, supported by music and peer-to-peer mobilisation.
Sustainability talks helped drive home the message, with student leaders sharing practical insights on environmental responsibility. Daily sustainability reminders on digital screens also helped sustain visibility throughout the week.
