Paul University, Awka, fifth combined convocation ceremony
Paul University, Awka, has celebrated 12 students graduating with First Class honours during its fifth combined convocation ceremony, held on the university premises.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Ven. Prof Obiora Nwosu, reported that a total of 474 undergraduates graduated, including 259 with Second Class Upper, 191 with Second Class Lower, and 12 with Third Class. Additionally, 141 postgraduate students completed programmes ranging from Postgraduate Diplomas to PhD degrees.
Nwosu confirmed that all academic programmes, undergraduate and postgraduate, are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), emphasising the institution’s high standards and uninterrupted academic calendar. He noted that Paul University maintains a disciplined environment free from cultism, indecent dressing, and substance abuse.
The Vice-Chancellor also announced that the Faculty of Nursing Sciences will commence next year, following positive feedback from the Nursing Council Accreditation Team.
Honorary doctorate degrees were conferred on Lady Ada Chukwudozie, Chair of Keystone Bank, and Chief Williams Linus Ifejika, CEO of BLord Group, for their outstanding contributions to society. The ceremony also marked the installation of Chief Dr Napoleon Onyechi, an internationally acclaimed pharmacist, as the university’s new Chancellor.
