The Nigerian Academy of Pharmacy recently rolled out the red carpet in honour of its pioneer vice president and founder of Pharmanews, Ifeanyi Atueyi, at a special valedictory session in Lagos.
Atueyi, who passed away in July 2025 at the age of 85, was remembered by pharmacists, industry leaders, and family members for his integrity, humility, and outstanding contributions to the pharmacy profession.
President of the Academy, Prof. Lere Baale, praised Atueyi’s lifelong dedication, noting that his values left a lasting mark on health communication and the growth of the profession. “When you honour those who have done well, it encourages others to give their best,” he said.
The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, in a tribute signed by Registrar Ibrahim Ahmed, described Atueyi as a visionary and trailblazer. It recalled his generosity in offering the council a free column in Pharmanews to address regulatory issues, keeping pharmacists nationwide informed. He is survived by his wife, Joan, children, and grandchildren.
