The Police have launched the Safe School Protection Squad in Lagos on Monday, June 30, 2025. The initiative was designed by Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), to protect Nigerian schools. To make the initiative more comprehensive, administrators, educators, and security personnel will be well-trained to recognise and handle threats. In addition, the initiative will adopt surveillance drones, CCTV cameras, perimeter fencing, modern technology, and intelligence-led policing. The initiative, which began implementation in 2023 with the establishment of the first Safe School Response Coordination Centre, is now being adopted by various states and local governments.
