Prof. Fanna Inna Abdulrahman, Acting Vice Chancellor of Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri
Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri, has appointed Professor Fanna Inna Abdulrahman as Acting Vice-Chancellor, following approval by the Board of Trustees on the recommendation of the Governing Council.
Fanna, on sabbatical from the University of Maiduguri, previously served as Head of the Department of Chemistry and Coordinator of Examinations and Timetable at Al-Ansar University. She also held the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration) at Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri.
Born on March 5 1963, Fanna earned her B.Sc., M.Sc., M.P.A., and PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Maiduguri and became a full Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in 2011. She has supervised over 150 undergraduates, 35 M.Sc. students, and 15 PhD students, with five of her mentees now Professors.
Her research focuses on Organic, Medicinal, and Environmental Chemistry, with more than 150 publications and 25 conference participations. She has held numerous academic and administrative roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Science and Coordinator of the Centre for Research and Innovation.
Fanna is a Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria and the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, where she serves as President. She also sits on the Governing Councils of Al-Ansar University and the Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru.
