Redeemer’s University, Ede, has conferred honorary doctorate degrees on gospel filmmaker Mike Bamiloye, philanthropist Omolewa Ahmed, and Sahara Power Group’s Group Managing Director, Kola Adesina, during its 17th convocation ceremony.
The ceremony, tagged “The Indomitable Set,” also saw 338 postgraduate students awarded higher degrees and diplomas.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shadrach Akindele said the graduates carried a social contract to apply their research and knowledge to tackle Nigeria’s most pressing challenges — from climate change and energy poverty to insecurity and ethical dilemmas in technology.
“The parchment of your degree is a contract with society,” he told the graduates. “You are now obligated to develop practical, innovative, and sustainable solutions for your communities, Nigeria, and the world.”
Akindele urged the new scholars to pursue continuous research and global engagement, adding that the world was “drowning in information but starved of wisdom.”
