Relief has come for indigent students of the University of Lagos as Emmanuel’s Table, an initiative of the Prayer Network, rolled out fresh scholarships and empowerment opportunities at its annual support programme on campus.
Convener Oluwatobi Boshoro said this year’s package covers tuition, departmental and faculty fees, utilities and hostel accommodation. Each beneficiary will also receive a ₦25,000 stipend, with sponsorship running until graduation for students who maintain a 3.5 CGPA.
The initiative is also linking students to employment pathways. A partner organisation has offered paid internships and possible full-time roles for graduates, while another is providing event-planning placements where students can earn up to ₦50,000 per event.
Pastor Oyinkan Bazuaye of RCCG The Oasis delivered the keynote on “The Mind of Christ,” sharing how her Christian journey shaped her outlook. Board member Itohan Iyalla described Emmanuel’s Table as “a seed sown by God,” noting that the eight-year-old programme has grown to support women entrepreneurs, vulnerable families and orphaned children, and is gradually expanding beyond Nigeria.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude. Mass communication student Adesanya Oluwadamilola said the support had been “impactful,” while Eletome Godwin said the scholarship would ease financial pressure and help him focus on his studies. Iyalla said the initiative is funded by anonymous individual donors whose trust has sustained its growth.
