UNILAG Gets Upgraded Advertising and PR Lab

UNILAG Alumnus donates PRAD Lab to Faculty of Mass Communication

Explicit Communications Limited has upgraded the Public Relations and Advertising Laboratory at the University of Lagos to reflect the fast-evolving demands of the communications industry.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Group Managing Director, Tunde Thani, said the intervention was designed to create a “future-ready” training hub for students of the Faculty of Communications and Media Studies. Thani, an alumnus of the faculty, said the refurbished lab now features advanced laptop connections, high-speed internet, interactive media tools, graphic design software, print technology and access to professional mentorship and industry-standard simulations.

He said rapid shifts driven by technology, digital innovation and artificial intelligence had made the upgrade necessary. “It became imperative that the lab be upgraded to meet current realities and prepare students for the future that is already upon us,” he said, urging students to use the facility effectively.

The President of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria, Lanre Adisa, encouraged students to maximise the opportunities the new lab offers as they prepare for careers in advertising and public relations.

The Dean of the faculty, Professor Oloruntola Sunday, commended Thani for his contribution and called on other alumni to support ongoing efforts to strengthen training and research at the university.
