On the eve of World Breast Cancer Research Day, new findings from the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) and the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) reveal the role of lifestyle in breast cancer prevention and survival.
The study states that maintaining a healthy body weight and engaging in regular physical activity not only lowers the risk of developing breast cancer but also improves survival rates after diagnosis.
In addition, researchers found that healthy eating patterns contribute to reduced risk of death from breast cancer. Diets rich in whole grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruits, particularly those high in dietary fibre, were linked to improved outcomes. Soy-based foods such as tofu and edamame were also noted to lower the risk of death and recurrence among survivors.
