Dr Yemisi Shyllon, an art collector and philanthropist, has implored the Nigerian government to contribute more to education. He pointed out that taking this step will help tackle many issues the country is experiencing.
The art collector made these remarks while unveiling a life-size bronze statue he donated to the Ijagun Campus of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASUED), Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
He also mentioned that he will unveil another art donation, a larger-than-life bronze monument of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, to the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on December 5, 2025.
Shyllon added that he was donating Awolowo’s statue because of his outstanding contribution to education, and wants to immortalise him for that reason.
Prof. Oluwole Banjo, TASUED Vice-Chancellor, appreciated Shyllon for his donation.
