SSANU and NASU Condemn Vice-Chancellor

Prof. Ayodeji Johnson Agboola, VC, Olabisi Onabanjo University

The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) at the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, have condemned Prof. Ayodeji Johnson Agboola for misrepresenting facts.

According to a statement signed by Comrade Abiodun Adedeji Lamina and Comrade Adebowale Sunday Odufuwa, the unions accused the Vice-Chancellor of intimidating and manipulating staff.

The unions maintained that the university’s management often sends last-minute meeting invitations, while the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership style has also divided the university.

They added, “Freedom of speech has disappeared in OOU. The management monitors WhatsApp platforms and records conversations to identify dissenting voices,” expressing that the Vice-Chancellor has turned the institution into a “surveillance centre.”

In addition, they blamed the university’s governing council for permitting the Vice-Chancellor’s actions without probing him.
