Barrister Falilat Oluwatoyin Orire has called on female lawyers to fight against the unfair treatment of African women. Orire, who is the Country Representative of the African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), made the statement in Ilorin during the 2025 Africa Women’s Day celebration.
She urged members of AWLA to speak out against all forms of discrimination that try to silence or exclude women. According to her, the celebration’s theme, “Advancing Social and Economic Justice for African Women,” reflects AWLA’s goal of promoting fairness and equal rights. Orire reminded participants that Africa Women’s Day is a time to honour women’s efforts in building Africa’s progress, peace, and unity. She added that women have always been a strong force for change and must continue to work together for a better future. She said AWLA Nigeria will continue to support women’s empowerment and push for a fairer society for all.
