A survey has shown that 80 per cent of researchers at two of Germany’s public research organisations use artificial intelligence.
A survey of researchers at the Max Planck Society of basic research centres and the Fraunhofer Society of applied R&D Centres, which received over 6,200 responses, reported in Research Policy, showed that 42.4 per cent of respondents reported being very or somewhat familiar with AI tools.
Likewise, 44 per cent said they had used AI a few times, and 22.2 per cent said they never use AI for work tasks, including research or teaching.
Commenting on the research, Dietmar Harhoff, from the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, described the figures as reflecting “a large shift in the use of AI in research over a relatively short time span.”
