The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has approved N2.5 billion for the Federal University of Transportation, Daura (FUTD) in Katsina State.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umar Adam-Katsayal, said the 2025 intervention will focus mainly on infrastructure and academic growth. About N1.3 billion is set aside for new facilities and programme upgrades, while N240 million will fund staff training.
Other allocations include N150 million for ICT, N185 million for the library, N170 million for conference attendance, and N100 million for research. Entrepreneurship centres will receive N85.5 million, career centres N100 million, while N25 million each is reserved for journal publication and manuscript development.
Prof. Adam-Katsayal added that the university has also launched a staff cooperative society to support home ownership within five to ten years.
The funding is expected to boost FUTD’s role in producing skilled professionals for Nigeria’s transport and logistics sector, a key driver of economic growth.
