Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education, at the engagements with ASUU
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ending the disruption of academic activities in public tertiary institutions through industrial actions. To ensure this happens, the president asked government officials to maintain industrial peace in all public tertiary institutions in the country.
Dr Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, while speaking at the ongoing engagements with the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) and other tertiary-institution unions, said, “Mr President has mandated us that he does not want ASUU to go on strike again, and we are doing everything humanly possible to ensure our students stay in school.” He said that the government has met all of ASUU’s requirements, adding that its six-day warning strike was unnecessary.
The minister also debunked claims that the government was neglecting the demands of other tertiary institution unions.
