The University of Ibadan (UI) has announced that it will not extend the admission deadline for its Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) undergraduate programmes, which closes at midnight on Friday, October 10 2025.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Director of the Distance Learning Centre (DLC), Prof. Babatunde Omobowale, urged prospective students to complete their applications before the deadline, warning that late entries would not be considered.
He said the ODeL initiative was designed to expand access to higher education by providing flexible learning options for candidates unable to gain admission through the conventional system or those combining studies with work.
Prof. Omobowale also announced that matriculation for new ODeL students will take place on October 30 at the university’s International Conference Centre.
The ceremony will include testimonies from three First-Class graduates from the inaugural ODeL cohort — Olalekan Abass (Computer Science), Akindubi Babatunde (Psychology), and Mark Okoye (Political Science) — who will share their learning experiences.
UI’s ODeL programmes cover disciplines in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, with admission open to candidates possessing the required O’Level credits in one or two sittings.
