A United Kingdom-based Nigerian, Soetan Tutu, has launched Daebridge, a mentor-matching mobile application designed to connect Nigerian youths, students, and school leavers with professionals across various fields.
Speaking during the launch, Tutu said the platform seeks to tackle Nigeria’s high unemployment rate and persistent skills gaps. She noted that most secondary school students lack access to career guidance and professional networks, while junior professionals often struggle with career advancement due to limited mentorship opportunities.
Tutu explained that Daebridge is expected to deliver measurable impact in three key areas: a 50 per cent increase in university enrolment, a 35 per cent improvement in employment rates, and a 60 per cent boost in participation in STEM careers. The platform also aims to reduce time-to-employment by 40 per cent and raise starting salaries by 35 per cent.
According to her, the app’s broader economic benefits could contribute an estimated ₦4.8 trillion to Nigeria’s GDP over the next decade, cut youth unemployment by 18 per cent, reduce skills gaps by 25 per cent, and generate $2.1 trillion in reduced social welfare costs.
