The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched its 2025 grant cycle under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme, inviting civil society groups to submit proposals.
The opportunity is open to NGOs, community groups, village councils, schools, and activists in Trinidad & Tobago, Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten who are working on environmental protection and sustainable development.
According to the UNDP, projects that stand a good chance of success must focus on areas such as protecting biodiversity, promoting renewable energy, sustainable farming and fishing practices, waste management, and water conservation.
Two categories of funding are available: Planning Grants of up to $5,000 for small pilot ideas, and Full Grants of up to $50,000 for bigger projects that can impact whole communities.
The UNDP explained that every proposal must demonstrate how the project will be sustainable and provide long-term benefits for both people and the environment. The goal is to help local communities fight climate change while also improving their livelihoods.
