The United Nations Children’s Fund has announced that it will intensify its efforts to equip young Nigerians with digital and entrepreneurial skills, aiming to bridge the country’s digital gap.
In partnership with Airtel, Microsoft, IHS Towers, and international partners, UNICEF will provide 20 million Nigerian youth with these skills. This will prepare them for the workplace and entrepreneurship towards 2030. Babagana Aminu, the UNICEF Nigeria Education Specialist, noted that the initiative has reached more than nine million youths since its launch in 2021 under the Generation Unlimited Nigeria (GenU) platform. According to him, UNICEF is working to ensure youths have equal access to mentorships and internships through partnerships with organisations like Vodafone and Unilever.
