The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has been ranked among the top 10 Nigerian universities in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. The institution shares the 1201–1500 global ranking bracket with other leading Nigerian universities, including Ahmadu Bello University, the University of Ilorin, the Federal University of Technology, Minna, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
This year’s rankings assessed 2,191 universities across 115 countries, using 18 performance indicators covering teaching, research, industry engagement and international outlook. A total of 51 Nigerian universities made the list, with UNIJOS placed among the top nine nationally.
Vice-Chancellor of UniJos, Prof Tanko Ishaya, described the recognition as a validation of the university’s commitment to academic excellence and global competitiveness. He noted that the achievement reflects the collective efforts of staff and students in advancing research and innovation.
“This milestone reaffirms our mission to strengthen UniJos’ global presence and academic impact,” Ishaya said.
