Prof. Peter Elias, Co-Director CHSD, UNILAG
Prof Peter Elias, Co-Director of the Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development (CHSD) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has secured two major international grants to drive research on sustainability and climate resilience.
The grants, funded by the Mastercard Foundation and the University of Cambridge Climate Resilience and Sustainability Research Fund (CReSus RF), will support projects aimed at building climate-resilient cities and advancing sustainable urban development.
The first project, titled “Applying Transdisciplinary and Youth-Driven Citizen Science for a Healthy Climate-Resilient Lagos,” runs from September 2025 to January 2027.
The second, “Anticipate, Transform: Upskilling Researchers to Co-create Policy-Relevant Research for Healthy Sustainable Urban Futures,” spans December 2025 to December 2026.
Both initiatives are collaborations between the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and UNILAG’s CHSD.
UNILAG Vice-Chancellor, Prof Folasade Ogunsola, congratulated Elias on behalf of the Senate, staff and students, describing the achievement as a milestone in the institution’s global research impact.
