UNILAG Final-Year Students Stage Yoruba Historical Drama “Ládìgbòlù”

Final-year students of the Faculty of Creative Arts, University of Lagos, on Friday, August 8, 2025, staged Ládìgbòlù, a Yoruba historical drama, in two consecutive performances as part of their final examination for THA 487: Special Practical Project.  The production drew a packed audience and earned praise for its compelling storytelling and cultural depth.

Set in a Yoruba kingdom steeped in secrets and ancestral tension, Ládìgbòlù, a fictitious play, tells the story of a prince betrayed by his bloodline and ensnared by destiny. As the dead rise to demand justice, the play explores the collision between tradition and truth, weaving themes of forbidden love, royal treachery, pride and the haunting price of ambition. From spectacular performances to masterful storytelling, Ládìgbòlù proved the depth of talent, creativity, and rigorous training of UNILAG’s Creative Arts students.
