The Department of Geosciences, University of Lagos (UNILAG), hosts the maiden Geosciences Town and Gown Lecture Series from November 24–26, 2025, at the Faculty Boardroom, Faculty of Physical and Earth Sciences. The event, themed “Overview of the Geosciences”, will run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The three-day programme will explore the evolving geosciences landscape, covering energy transition, subsurface exploration, reservoir studies, and emerging technologies shaping the field. Specialists from TotalEnergies will lead sessions, offering practical insights into sedimentology, petrophysics, geophysics, reservoir engineering, and related disciplines.
Senior academics, including Vice-Chancellor Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, Dean Prof. O. Asekun, and Head of Department Prof. L. Adeoti, are expected to attend. Students, researchers, faculty and industry professionals will engage in discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking with leading geoscience experts.
The programme aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of geoscience applications in energy systems, climate studies and technological innovations, making it an intellectually enriching platform for the UNILAG community and industry stakeholders.
